Models Direct: Englandís New football strip
Sporty and stylish Models Direct couldnít help but notice the new England strip in their recent friendly against Bulgeria. The slick and modern looking football kit comes with big designer credentials as its creator is the world renowned Peter Saville; famous for producing some of Factory Records most iconic music sleeves.
[UKPRwire, Wed Oct 06 2010] Six months after the release of the red world cup football strip, could this fresh new white design be just the thing to give England a clean new start?
The FA released the new Umbro England football strip just in time for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgeria and Switzerland, and when we saw the design we were more than impressed. It may be simpler than those of previous years, but this does little to change the fact that it is one of Models Directís most favourite kits to date.
The most noticeable change to the strip is the collar, which now resembles that of a granddad collar. The shirt also features miniature St.Georgeís crosses embroidered across the back. The crosses come in the colours red, blue and green: colours presented in the official England team crest. These are joined by a purple cross; a blend of all the previous three colours which is said to symbolise and represent the diversity of England.
Another design feature is the return to blue shorts. The colour is a slightly lighter blue, reminiscent of the 1982 shorts. This is in-keeping with the rest of the design which has a strong vintage approach, giving the football kit a rather classic and timeless appeal.
It is planned that funds from the sale of this kit will be reinvested into twenty-three England club teams, the National Football Centre in Burton and 3,000 County FA courses every year, which train 60,000 players, referees and coaches annually.
The kit will be available to purchase this October and will set fans back £49.99.
