[UKPRwire, Fri Aug 07 2009] As building services engineers for 5 Aldermanbury Square, Hilson Moran is delighted that the scheme has been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize, which will be announced on 17 October 2009 at Old Billingsgate, London.
One of the City of London’s most innovative office developments, 5 Aldermanbury Square has been selected from a midlist of 22 RIBA Award 2009 winners and is one of just six buildings internationally to be shortlisted by the judges for the RIBA Stirling Prize, which is awarded to the RIBA Building of the Year.
Hilson Moran provided services engineering consultancy on the project, including energy and environmental performance analysis to inform the façade design, Part L2 compliance and strategy development and detailed design of the mechanical, electrical, public health and fire engineering systems. In addition, Hilson Moran was also responsible for the vertical transportation design.
Completed in 2007, the multi-occupancy development, designed by Eric Parry architects, has set a new benchmark for high quality office accommodation in this part of the City - within sight of St Paul's Cathedral and the Guildhall. Presenting an elegant curving form configured into two wings, the glass and steel building offers a total of 35,000 square metres comprising 18 floors of flexible office space and retail at ground level.
