The Models Direct Guide to Wearing the Right Jeans
Everyone should own a great pair of jeans, but many of us struggle to find the right pair, or try to ignore what our body shape dictates and follow the ‘must-have’ trends. Models Direct have come up with a guide to help you choose the most flattering styles for your body shape.
[UKPRwire, Tue May 25 2010] Everyone should own a great pair of jeans, but many of us struggle to find the right pair, or try to ignore what our body shape dictates and follow the ‘must-have’ trends. Models Direct have come up with a guide to help you choose the most flattering styles for your body shape.
If you’re a pear shape you’ll most likely want to disguise your larger thighs and wide hips – and boot-cut jeans can help to achieve this. Try to find some mid-rise jeans – those that sit about two inches below your belly button – will help to elongate your legs. Opt for dark denim and wear with heels (making sure the hemline comes to just above the floor) to make your legs seem longer and slimmer.
Wear straight-cut jeans to make your legs appear longer. Jeans with a high waist will also give the impression of long legs but are unflattering on ‘heavier figures’ and pear shapes. Alternatively you can try low rise jeans if you want to elongate your torso. Cuffing jeans at the bottom will do no favours for petite ladies.
If you’re lucky enough to have legs up to your armpits, flared jeans that are fitted at the thighs, slim boot cuts and skinny jeans will all look great on you. If you want your legs to look even longer, wear heels with jeans that go down to the floor. If you’re self-conscious about skinny pins, avoid loose and baggy styles, which will make you seem lankier.
If you have a straight up and down, boyish figure you’ll no doubt want to give the impression of some feminine curves. High-set or angled pockets imply a more curvy body shape. You could also try fashionable tapered trousers, which are slimmer at the calves and ankles. This will make your hips and bottom look fuller.
To conceal a big bottom
You have a few options if you’re trying to disguise a larger bottom. Wearing jeans with big back pockets will help to keep things in proportion, vertical lines give the impression of a taller, slimmer figure and flared jeans can add balance to your shape.
To conceal a big tummy
If you’re trying to hide a big tummy try a pair of high-waisted jeans that create a smooth silhouette over the stomach area – just don’t wear trousers that go above the belly button. Also avoid jeans that have an elastic waistband, a tie fastening, pleats or decoration on the front as these will all draw attention to your sensitive area.
