[UKPRwire, Tue Nov 10 2009] Teachers from around the UK will be joining experts from Northgate Managed Services (www.northgate-is.com/education) on stand D70 at BETT 2010 to share best practice for ICT to enhance learning. Teachers and technology partners will be running Northgate’s Seminar Zone throughout the show, discussing their personal experiences of the dynamic partnership with the ICT specialist and the innovative ways they use technology to engage and improve learning for students. Visitors to the stand can also learn about the benefits of Northgate’s ICT managed service by entering its Interactive Video Pod where they will be able to explore some of Northgate’s schools.

Teachers can also visit Northgate’s School Demonstration Area where each day a teacher will be promoting innovative usage of ICT that they are using to engage students. For example, using the Apple iPod touch as a teaching tool in music classes

Working closely with many Building Schools of the Future (BSF), Academies and Pathfinder schools Northgate is keen to share its vast experience and expertise in the field of ICT and demonstrate how a flexible, dynamic partnership between ICT provider and school can support transformation in learning. Northgate’s team will be available throughout BETT to discuss the benefits of a Managed Service for those schools due to embark on BSF; helping to improve standards, ensure a smooth transition for ICT and ultimately transfer risk, establishing confidence across the school community.

Each and every school has its own development and improvement plan so Northgate takes a flexible approach to solutions and personalises service delivery to each schools’ needs. Northgate believes it is employed to challenge as well as support a school’s ICT provision so it is vital that there is a constant two-way dialogue. Both parties need to be continuously engaged and challenge each other every step of the process to improve ICT provision. For example, Northgate’s team will analyse the efficiency of existing resources before making recommendations for new technology so believe feedback from the school about the current efficiency, usage and uptake of technologies is vital.

In the Interactive Video Pod, visitors can submerge themselves in the real-life experiences of schools currently working with Northgate. Just one of many engaging case studies, teachers will hear from Hugh Christie Technology College in Tonbridge, Kent; a state foundation, mixed PFI school, which is at the forefront of introducing innovative resources to improve the learning experience for its students. Collaborating with Northgate, Hugh Christie is engaged in a ‘discovery programme’ using the company’s expertise to maximise its ICT efficiency and to offer students the best education.

Just one of a number of key seminars held at the show, Northgate will be discussing the company’s approach to TUPE*, whereby school ICT technicians work directly for Northgate. Helping to improve standards for ICT within schools and ensure a high level and continuity of service, Northgate is working with school technicians to determine their skill levels, providing professional training, guidance and support. This combined with early engagement makes the process much more effective and less stressful, ensuring technician time is better channelled into supporting staff and developing the school’s new ICT strategy.

David Hyland, Managing Director, Education at Northgate Managed Services, comments: “Our extensive experience of working closely with schools has taught us that a relationship built upon openness, flexibility and trust enables a partnership to innovate, challenge and ultimately improve learning through ICT. We welcome teachers from all schools, whether they are beginning BSF, an academy, or a single school to come along to our stand and meet our teachers, partners and team to hear more about how we can support them in their transformation.”

Northgate will be running seminars throughout the show exploring many different topics including those dedicated to specific pieces of technology and schools’ personal experiences.
